Descripción: Escudo de la ciudad de Purchena (Almería). Debido a la participación de esta localidad en la Guerra de las Alpujarras, cuando llegó a convertirse en capital de las tropas moriscas de Aben Humeya, Felipe II cortó las alas del águila bicéfala. Caso curioso que ha convertido al escudo de esta localidad en el único en el mundo con un ave sin alas.
